archive comprising print media, video and audio material
[presented at: Ende, Städelmuseum, Frankfurt am Main, 2008]

Departing from the exhibition situation and context, the documents presented in this installation of the archive were organised in two distinct main categories: one which attempted at mimicking the classification categories used to organise and present the Museum’s collection in the galleries upstairs of the exhibition space, and the other containing all documents of the archive which wouldn’t fit into this classification system. The Museum’s collection has a system of classification based mostly in chronology, media and geography, such as, for example: Italian 14th Century painting; Dutch 17th Century painting; German 16th Century painting; etc...
In the end, the number of documents that fell out of this classification system was far superior to the one that did fit.
As in other previous presentations of the archive, this organisation system was not made visible or available to the users.
